Unit 20

UNIT 20 WORKSHEET

Task 1 – You are about to take your first lesson with a group of monolingual students in their own country.
Write a lesson plan for the class, including introduction, warmers, an activity/exercise/test that will indicate students’ different levels, and finishing with a game or other activity that involves all the class. Use the same lesson plan format as all previous lesson plans.

Task 2 – Summarize what you have personally gained from this course, and how you plan to put into action what you have learned.
This course helped me review some of the basic grammar structures of English that I already knew but may have not been able to explain. Being a native English speaker, I hadn’t realized exactly how difficult English could be and how I took it for granted that just because I understood it doesn’t mean I could explain it. This course taught me the different type of learners (child, adult, special needs) and language levels, all of which needs to be taught to their specific needs. I feel that this TEFL course helped me improve as a teacher and could be incorporated into teaching any subject, not just English. Lesson planning definitely became easier to organize and complete with the form I have from this course. I also believe that this course allowed me to become more open-minded about multilingual students and glimpse into their minds and see from their point of view.
I plan on using what I learned to teach English in Seoul, South Korea. I hope to teach at an elementary school and use my TEFL certification to become highly qualified for most of the teaching positions. I would prefer to teach in South Korea since I can speak Korean, which would greatly assist me when I teach English.

    1. I do not want to be harsh but you do need to hear this. If you talk the way you write you should never teach English. You have no grammar in your paragraph, furthermore, your sentence structure is really bad. This shows that you are not a native English speaker or you're and you're just not good at writing. Either way keep trying and learn all you can. Also this course isn't difficult in any way.

  2. Thank you for this blog. It was really helpful for my ESL class. I fond the units with ESA stages especially interesting as they provide practical tips.
